TIMES: Daily 7AM to Dusk – Daily Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Walk the waterside loop. Rated 1C; Soft and packed sand, paved surface. Not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Nice Beach. Also, structure from first settlement in 1770’s, Riverside Park, Indian River, New Smyrna Museum of History, Shops of Canal Street & Flagler Ave., and the Marine Discovery Center.
HISTORY: First settled by Greeks and Minorcans in 1768 who moved to St. Augustine in 1776. Founded in 1877, New Smyrna Beach is at the mouth of Ponce de Leon Inlet. The US Coast Guard Station is located at the northern point of the beach across from the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse on the opposite side of the Jetty.
DIRECTIONS: From I-95 (either north or south): Take exit 249 (State Road 44) and drive east for approximately 5.8 miles. Just past the SunTrust Bank turn Right into the shopping center and drive to Publix Supermarket. Park in the lot, go into the store to Customer Service Counter and ask for the Walk Box.
