A Message from the President:

Please consider joining us on Saturday morning, August 5 at 9:00 a.m. at the classroom building for the Presbyterian Church (where our last two meetings have been) to help us plan the club’s activities for 2018! Any/all club members are welcome to attend and provide your ideas and input. We’ll have coffee and treats at the start, and the meeting will be over by lunchtime!

We had a terrific meeting in July with 13 new members joining our ranks! Club members Emilie Higgins and Mitzi Mucciarone have agreed to co-Chair this year’s Christmas holiday party. Thanks Ladies!! 😊 The date will be Friday 8 Dec, at the VFW Banquet Hall in Port Orange. More information at the next meeting! Our summer “Ice Cream” walks are in full-swing and we’ve even found at least one new ice cream shop that just opened! Even at 8 o’clock in the morning, our summer Sunday group walks are heating up – so be sure to carry water, wear a hat and use sunscreen! I always have extra bottled water with me in my car – just ask!

Our main effort in 2017 continues to be WAF27 in St. Augustine. All the rooms we originally “blocked” at the Southern Oaks Inn have now been reserved, but the hotel is still taking WAF registrations until they are completely booked up! Get your room fast!! (Call them at (904) 342-2354 and say “Walk Around Florida” for a special rate of $119/night +taxes.) The Registration Brochure for the walks and socials is now available on our website and we’ll have them every week at the walks, too. It’s important that you RSVP for the SAT Dinner meal if you are attending, as we will have to give Amici’s a headcount about 2 weeks out. We have a great private room and a cash-bar. Cost is $30 per person. Vegetarian and/or gluten-free options will be available. As always, we’ll need plenty of volunteers to make WAF27 a success – there will be sign-up instructions later this summer!

Thanks All!

 Bi-Monthly Business Meeting

Hello Happy Wanderers & Friends!

A reminder of the Happy Wanderers General Membership Meeting coming up on Thursday, January 4th at 6:30 p.m. at the Port Orange Presbyterian Church.

John McClellan, president of the Happy Wanderers will hold a New Member / AVA Orientation talk at 6 pm for those of you interested in learning more about the AVA and book stamping.

This is an opportunity to come and see what is on the horizon in regards to new activities and events being planned. Your feed back is important as well as your interaction with the club leadership. This can also be a venue where you can learn how you can become involved in the club, should that be of interest.

After the meeting we go eat and socialize, something we're really good at.

Hope you can make it.

John McClellan

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the AVA & More

Hello Happy Wanderers,

This is a special invitation for you to learn all about the AVA and how the programs work. I am inviting everyone who recently joined the Happy Wanderers, however anyone who feels they would benefit from this class are welcome to attend.

When you joined you received a New Walkers Packet.  Did you go over the contents? Did you understand everything that was in the packet?  Have you started stamping your books to receive credit for each walk you do and the distance you walked? If you have not or even if you have, we want you to come to a special session that John McClellan will lead explaining all of this.

The session will begin at 6:00PM on Thursday, January 4th at the Port Orange Presbyterian Church on Clyde Morris.  This will be just before the regular club meeting at 6:30.

Please send me an email advising if you will attend.  My address is

Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the 4rh of Januaary.
