What Is A YEAR-ROUND-EVENT? Unlike regular Volksmarch Events which have fixed Start/Finish times and are offered only on certain weekends, a YEAR-ROUND-EVENT may be enjoyed any day of the year. It is a non-competitive walk or bike thru a scenic or historic area that participants travel at their own pace. Anyone who completes the course and pays the $3 fee is eligible for Distance and Event credit. HOW OFTEN CAN YOU DO A YEAR-ROUND EVENT? You are allowed to get Event Credit TWICE during the year for these Events. This is how it works: Between January 5th-June 30, the event stamp will have a +sign indicating that the walk or bike was done during the first 6 months of the year. On July 1-December 31, the stamp will not have the +sign. For those walkers who enjoy walking and gathering the event stamps, this will give you the opportunity to get the EVENT credit more than the usual once per year. You can receive Distance Credit for as many times as you do the Year-Round-Events. ELIGIBILITY: Anyone may participate. Volkssporting is a family activity. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pets must be leashed, are not allowed in buildings, on the beach, boardwalks or campgrounds. PROCEDURE: At the start of each event, each participant will fill out a Start Card with name and full address of each walker. This card is carried and Checkpoints are noted along the route. All cards remain the property of The Happy Wanderers and must be turned in at the Finish. Please use sidewalks where available and follow all traffic signs and signals. PAYMENT BY CHECK (preferred ) Make checks payable to The Happy Wanderers. AVA BOOKS are NOT available in the Volkssboxes. Insert cards are always available. DISCLAIMER: The sponsors are not liable for accidents, thefts, and/or material damage. Every effort has been made by the sponsors to make this a safe, enjoyable and memorable Event.
