TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Rated 1+ moderately easy; mostly sidewalks, some dirt paths and grass. Strollers
and wheelchairs can overcome slight difficulties.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Oak tree lined streets, home to Stetson University, the gingerbread house,
DeLand Memorial Hospital Museum in Bill Dreggors Park, and the DeLand Museum of Art.
HISTORY: The stately oaks are the result of the interests and endeavors of Henry DeLand who
founded the city in 1876. Stetson University was founded in 1886 by Henry DeLand who, unfortunately lost
most of his personal fortune because of two consecutive freezes which destroyed the citrus groves. He then
left the town to the hat magnate John Stetson and the University was renamed to Stetson University.
DIRECTIONS: From I-4, Take Exit 118. Follow signs to DeLand. Drive 4.3 miles to Amelia Ave.
Turn Left onto Amelia. Go one block, turn Right on Howry Ave. Library is on your Left
